Child Sexual Abuse is a crime. We often believe that sexual abuse of children cannot occur in our homes. The harsh reality is otherwise (Statistics, National study). It is a fact that victims can be a boy or a girl, rich or poor, educated or illiterate.
The abuser is often someone known - a relative, friend, teacher, or even a parent. The refusal to acknowledge the possibility of abuse taking place is the root cause of child sexual abuse being inadequately addressed and tackled in India.
Let us take one step ahead in changing that. Remember! Every child matters
Who Pledged Today
I acknowledge that sexual abuse is a reality to many children in India, and could even happen to those I know and care for.
I will read the resources on this website to educate myself and others around me.
I will make it my business to voice my discomfort if I notice inappropriate behavior of an adult towards any child.
I will talk to at least five other people about what I have learned from this website on child sexual abuse.
